about CHIBA MUNDIAL U-16

CHIBA MUNDIAL is a tournament for U-16 generation hosted by JEF United Ichihara Chiba since 2018. Tournaments for U-16 players are rarely held in Japan. Encouraging powerful teams to gather from throughout Japan and holding a nationwide U-16 tournament in Chiba City, our purpose is to make a contribution to train and strengthen U-16 players in each region for further technical improvement and increasing sociability. As “CHIBA MUNDIAL U-16” was started aiming to hold as an international tournament in the future, two teams from overseas will participate this year.

The tournament was decided to be held aiming to play an important role for the growing age. A high-level and competitive environment can lead to the growth of the sporting dimension in each Japanese club. I hope that the tournament would present full of opportunities for all the players and staff to learn and grow.

The first CHIBA MUNDIAL was held last year aiming to hold as an international tournament in the future. This year, in addition to 13 Japanese teams, 2 teams from overseas will participate. Since there are fewer U-16 official tournaments held in Japan, we believe that participating in the international tournament inspires U-16 generation not only to grow as a soccer player, but also to enhance humanity and internationality. I expect that some of the players who participated in this tournament will perform on the global stage in the future. Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the efforts of all the people for this tournament.

JEF United Ichihara Chiba is a professional soccer club with Ichihara City and Chiba City as home towns. As one of the so-called “original 10” clubs that have joined since the opening of the J-League in 1993, it has reached its 28th anniversary. Inviting Jose Manuel Lara as an Academy Director in 2017, we have focused not only on the production of professional soccer players, but also on human resources development that will support Japanese society in the future from an international perspective.
